Forgive

Forgive.  Are YOU nursing unresolved anger?  Do you believe it is impossible to forgive someone because of the pain they have caused you?  This is 4:45 minutes of a speech by Terry Warner that I have loved for years

"Why We Forgive"
by C. Terry Warner

"If we can find forgiveness in our hearts for those who have caused us hurt and injury, we will rise to a higher level of self esteem and well being"
James E Faust (2007)

  1. I am happy to report that I am not! I can't afford to harbor grudges. It wouldn't help anyway! Thanks for the great reminder.

  2. That is wonderful. It is so fun how when we practice what we know life is better. My new favorite saying is "Joy is real" and when I choose to forgive others my heart is more open to feeling things like joy, hope, love. I appreciate your comments. Thank you!

  3. Although I have been taught the value of forgiveness, I realize that I have not been able to avoid harboring some hurt feelings and resentment. I recently experienced a breakthrough in overcoming some of these negative feelings. I was reading "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise L. Hay. To dissolve resentment, Louse recommends imagining the person you resent on a stage in front of you. When you see this person clearly, visualize good things happening to this person -- things that would be meaningful to him. See him smiling and happy. As I have tried this visualization, I have felt my resentment melt away. It has brought me new peace within. After releasing some resentment that I was aware of, I tried probing deeper to release older stuff that I am less aware of. Interestingly to me, sometimes what came to my mind was disappointment with myself for my own failures. A wonderful thing is that in my state of desiring to forgive others, I found that I was able to forgive my own weaknesses more freely than ever before. It really is true that in order to be forgiven, we need to forgive others. Thank you, Kandee, for reminding us how powerful forgiveness can be.

  4. Gail. This is such a profound insight. I so appreciate you sharing it here on Finding Freckles. Thank you. I truly believe when we seek to forgive others we are also able to see the truth about ourselves with greater ease. Seeing others with a kinder view is a goal of mine. I have also experienced a similiar miracle with forgiveness. When the scriptures suggest we need to forgive others to find forgiveness I wonder if this is a glimpse into how that might work. Gratefully, Kandee.
